14 Days Vietnam and Cambodia Tour

This 14 days tour combines the two countries in Southeast Asia, providing you the best part of Vietnam and Cambodia, from the spectacular Halong Bay to the majestic temples of Angkor.

After your arriving at Hanoi, take two days to enjoy the stunning scenery of Ha Laong Bay, then fly to Siem Reap, explore the splendid temples in Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, and watch the sunrise over the center tower of Angkor Wat and the stunning sunset view over Cambodian countryside. After that, transfer to Hoi An ancient town to wander at the ancient and tranquil street.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Hanoi

Flight: International flight on your own arrangment or on requests.

Meals: Dinner

Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival, your guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel for check in. You'll receive a short debriefing in the lobby. The rest of the day/evening is at your leisure.

Day 02: Free Day

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today is at your leisure. Those who wish can arrange a city tour with our guide. The evening will start with a Water Puppet Showperformed by the world renowned Thang Long Opera House. This performance features a talent unique to Vietnam. You'll watch as water puppets perform the folklore legends of Vietnam while live ethnic music sets the mood. After the show, you’ll enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine at Indochine Restaurant which features a French colonial style with imperial overtures. Once you finish your dinner, you'll be escorted to your hotel.

Day 03: The Tranquil Ha Long Bay

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning, you'll transfer by vehicle to Ha Long Bay(3 hours).

12h00 – 12h30 Embark on Calypso Cruiser followed by cruise briefing;

13h00 – 15h30 Savor a sumptuous lunch as Calypso Cruiser cruise further along the limestone islands of Fighting Cock, Dog Rock and Incense Burner…

15h30 – 17h30 Visit Amazing Cave;

17h30 – 19h00 Enjoy drinks on Sundeck, snap photos the overview of Halong Bay, go swimming or just relax as the sun starts to set. Those who fancy some experience in cooking Vietnamese dishes can join in our brief Vietnamese cooking course on board while having some free wine.

19h00 Dinner is served.

Day 04: Sunrise over Sea and Karsts

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

05h00 – 06h00 Wake early to watch as the sun rises over the bay(perfect for photos).

06h00 – 07h00 Have a group Tai Chi session on the top deck, if you like.

07h00 – 11h00 Breakfast. Get your hand on some kayaking, visiting Luon cave, swimming.

Option: For those who do not fancy kayaking can visit Titop Island to enjoy the panorama view of Halong Bay or just relax, swim at the beach.

Head back to the Harbor.

Disembark at around 11h00.

Next, you'll transfer to Ninh Binh Province.

In the late afternoon, you'll visit Hoa Lu(2 hour transfer), the ancient capital. In 968, Dinh Bo Linh declared himself as the King. Since then Hoa Lu existed as the capital for only 41 years. In 1010, King Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long – present day Hanoi. Hoa Lu became the old citadel. In Hoa Lu there are now two temples dedicated to two Vietnamese kings, which have been built on the grounds of the old royal palace. The visit offers a chance to learn more about the feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history.

Day 05: Wonders of Ninh Binh

Flight: Domestic flight is on Indochina Tour's arrangement

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Early in the morning, you'll transfer to Bai Dinh Temple, the largest temple in Vietnam. Here you can have a yoga session if you like(please note that the yards are stone covered). This Buddhist temple was built into the mountain with 3 terraces, and faces the river. Next, you'll take an amazing boat trip through Trang An Grottoes. A gathering of 31 valleys and 50 cross-water caves are home to 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna many of which are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam. Rowing through the Trang An Grottoes is a peaceful trip of serenity. The highland air is a respite from modern living and the sounds are only that of birds and the oars stirring the clear water. Towering overhead are magnificent forested mountains upon which you might catch a glimpse of grazing white-bearded goats. In the valleys, you'll see cultivated rice fields. After the tour is finished, you will transfer to Hanoi for your flight to Siem Reap.

Upon arrival in Siem Reap, our guide will escort you to your hotel for check in. The evening is at your leisure.

Day 06: Beng Melea Jungle Temple and Koh Ker Pyramid

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch

In the morning, you'll rise early to transfer to Bakheng Mountain. Here, you'll climb from the base to the top where an ancient temple resides. It is an ideal vantage point to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Then you'll go to Beng Meleawhile the morning dew and fog still cover this Indiana Jones-esque temple. Wind through maze-like tunnels, swing on ancient tree vines, and chart your own adventure while you climb through this amazing complex hidden in the jungle.

Then you'll travel to what was once the great city of Koh Ker, which was the capital before Angkor Thom. You'll visit many temples, ancient pools, and ruins in the vast area. Then you'll finish with a visit to the pyramid temple of Koh Ker. From atop, you can see much of Northern Cambodia.

Next, you will transfer to Sra Em for check in at your hotel. The evening is at your leisure.

Day 07: Preah Vihear Mountain Temple and Kbal Spean

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

In the morning, you’ll get an early start transferring to the northern mountain range where Cambodia borders Thailand. There, the coach will stop at the bottom of the mountain where trucks await to take you up the mountainside to a gem that has just recently become safe to visit. As you climb the mountain, take a deep breath of the clean mountain air before the stunning view takes your breath away again. Perched atop the mountain is the magnificent Preah Vihear Temple, which is among one of the largest complexes in Cambodia. On a clear day, you can see more than 50km of Cambodia on one side and Thailand on the other. After you’ve finished exploring this mountaintop wonder, you’ll return to Srah Emm for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll stop at Kbal Spean. Deep in the jungle, you'll find an intricately carved riverbed with Hindu motifs and many lingas. Then you'll continue on to Siem Reap for check in at your hotel. Near dusk, you'll transfer to Krom Mountain to watch the sun set over the Tonle Sap Lake.

Day 08: Angkor Equinox Sunrise | Temples of Angkor

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning, you'll rise up before the sun to get to Angkor Wat Temple. From here, you'll watch as the sun rises over the center tower of Angkor Wat. This special occasion only happens twice a year. Then you'll be taken to an ideal location nearby for yoga. You'll return to your hotel for breakfast and a short rest. Later in the morning, your guide will take you to Angkor Thom's South Gate. Here you'll enter the capital of an ancient civilization that ruled much of Southeast Asia nearly a millennium ago. You'll continue to Bayon Templewhere you will be surrounded by 216 gigantic stone faces famed as the Smile of Angkor. You will also visit the Terrace of the Elephants, the Royal Palace and the Terrace of the Leper King. After that, you will stop for lunch. After lunch, you'll continue to an ancient Buddhist Monastery and University called Ta Prohm which was built in the Bayon style in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Ta Prohmis one of the most attractive temples with its combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surrounding it.

After Ta Prohm, you'll come to Angkor Wat Temple to explore the vast corridors, rooms, courtyards and levels of the largest religious site in the world.

As the sun approaches the horizon, you'll perch atop Pre Rup's pyramid-shaped temple for a stunning sunset view over Cambodian countryside.

Be prepared to enjoy a beautiful traditional dance performed by a team trained in the Dance of Apsara. This unique cultural experience highlights the mysterious civilization and heritage of Khmer spoken through choreography and music. Colorful costumes and playful activities will give you insights into the Khmer daily life and wedding traditions while you enjoy a delicious meal to welcome you to the Kingdom of Wonders. The rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 09: Kulen Mountain and Waterfall

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Early in the morning, you'll rise before the sun and be escorted to Ta Prohm temple to watch as the sunrise lights up the large white tree which covers the temple. After sunrise, you'll be escorted to an ideal place nearby for yoga. Bok Mountain is the last in the triad group of mountains and the most Northern of the group.

After breakfast, we’ll take you to new heights into the Kulen Mountain National Park(Mountain of Lychees). Explore the jungles brimming with wildlife and tropical fruit. Discover stone carvings under the streams that predate Angkor Wat. Take a trek to the 16th century temple on the mountain where Buddhists and Hindus pilgrimage frequently.

For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to Kulen Waterfall where Angelina Jolie was filmed for the movie Tomb Raider. Take a swim if you like. As dusk approaches, we'll transfer to Bok Mountain for climbing the 625 steps and watching the sun set.

Day 10: Transfer to Hoi An

Flight: Domestic flight is on Indochina Tour's arrangement

Meals: Breakfast

Today is at your leisure. In the afternoon, you'll transfer by flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, you'll be escorted to your hotel in Hoi An.

Day 11: My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Feel free to wake up early and have a yoga session on Cau Dai beach, behind your resort.

Today you'll explore the My Son Holy Land, a UNESCO Heritage site and Vietnam's most important Cham site. In the morning, you'll tranfer to the My Son Holy Land. Tucked in the mountains up winding roads with serene views, lay the 4th century My Son Holy Land ruins. The surrounding mountains are strictly forbidden from living or development. The ruins lay in a beautiful surrounding mountainous landscape. You'll enter the temples while your tour guide gives you the history and stories of the Cham and the site. Afterward, you'll watch an Apsara show nearby the site, passed through the Cham tradition. The show features live music and colorful costumes.

In the afternoon, you'll continue to visit Hoi An Ancient Town. This town features the 16th century Hoi An port town in it's preserved state. You'll start the day visiting the Museum of Trade Ceramics. This museum houses art and pottery dating from the 1,500s to the 1,700s. Then you'll briefly visit the Chua Ong Pagoda, a temple from the 17th century which features China's influence in the region. You'll continue through the Ancient Town as the streets take on a magic of their own with old lanterns, French-style houses, intricately carved wooden doors and more. You'll take a stroll through the Old Tam Ky Houseto see it's imperial styles meshed with French overtures. Continue on to stroll along the river and see traditional boats and locals on bicycles passing by. You'll then approach the Japanese Covered Bridge. This bridge has connected the Chinese and Japanese sides of town over the waterway for centuries. The old wooden structure has shown amazing resilience for more than 400 years.

At dusk, enjoy walking along the riverside as colorful lanterns light up the town. After you've finished the tour, you will return back to your hotel.

Day 12: Hue Imperial Citadel

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Your tour guide will assist with checking you out of your hotel and then you'll be escorted by vehicle for a scenic ride along the mountain coasts of Vietnam. Start by riding alongside the beaches of Danang where you'll see hundreds of traditional fishing boats scattered out along the water with beautiful mountains lining the horizon. Then you'll approach a steep and narrow ascent where you'll find the scenery surreal. Along the way, there is a stretch of road which overlooks a beautiful bay with a small fishing village, perfect for a Facebook portrait. You'll continue your climb to a summit where the clouds will meet you. In Chinese, the summit is referred to as “Where the Clouds Meet the Ocean”. You'll continue onward through mountains, valleys, countryside, and shorelines where you'll find numerous breathtaking scenes. Feel free to request your driver to stop for photos along the way. As you enter Hue, you'll see many imperial signs and impressive houses and buildings which are only a deluge of what's to come.

Your ventures will take you to lunch at a royal residence.These imperial styled houses near the Royal Citadel feature beautiful gardens, intricate furnishings, and detailed ornaments at every turn. Each dish highlights different aspects of Hue traditional food enjoyed by the royalty. The brilliant food presentation will be sure to leave a fond memory with you of this family-owned garden and restaurant.

In the afternoon, you'll press onward to see the famed Imperial Hue Citadel – the old capital of Vietnam. This Citadel has a moat and wall perimeter 10 km long. You'll be able to view it's vast gardens and structure relics. Then you'll breach the outer perimeter of the Hue Imperial City. Inside, you'll see many of the national treasures and structures which have survived the Vietnam War. Venture further inside and you'll enter the Purple Forbidden City. This city was off limits to the commoners and only could be entered by the highest officials in Vietnamese government and royalty. You're driver will meet you on the other side of the city where you'll then be escorted to a stop at the Dong Ba Marketwhere you can see local fruits and produce for sale.

Day 13: Phong Nha Caves

Flights: Flight from Hue to Hanoi will be arranged by INT

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Morning, drive about 240km from Hue to the Son River in Quang Binh province. Take a boat trip to the famed caves at Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.. Of these surveyed caves, 17 were in the Phong Nha area and three in the Ke Bang area. The Cave is famous for its rock formation which have been given names such as the Lion, the Fairy Caves, the Royal Court, and the Buddha. Afterwards, return to Dong Hoi for lunch before driving back to Hue. After you've returned to Hue, you'll transfer by flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival, our guide will escort you to your hotel for check in.

Day 14 Departure for sweet home

Meals: Breakfast
